• Leon J Stein

  Founder

  After graduating from college with distinction in economics, Lee Stein began his career working for a large national insurance carrier and specializing in workers’ compensation and liability claims. After 5 years, he transitioned from claims adjuster to agent and specialized in commercial and industrial insurance.

  Driven by entrepreneurial spirit, Lee stepped off the corporate ladder and founded LJ Stein & Company in 1979. The focus of his new agency was on manufacturing and energy risks. Lee quickly earned a reputation for integrity and technical expertise.

  Committed to community involvement, Lee served as president of the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce and The Jamestown NY AM Rotary. He was also a founding member and first chairman of The Chautauqua Lake Rowing Association.

• David Stein

  President

  David Stein began his career in technical sales in the hard-rock mining and manufacturing industries in the Arizona – Sonora region. Desiring a sustainable lifestyle for raising his young family, David joined LJ Stein & Company in 2000.

  Driven by his fascination and passion for the industry, David transformed LJ Stein & Company from a highly respected local business into the leading property and casualty insurance agency for the Northern Appalachian oil and natural gas industry.

  His passion is demonstrated by his deep involvement in industry organizations. David has invested time, resources and energy into efforts intended to improve worker safety and minimize the environmental impacts of oil and natural gas development.

  David earned his Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Arizona in 1992.

• Patrick Kennedy

  General Manager

  Patrick Kennedy joined our team with over 25 years of industry experience, the last 10 in a management role for a top ten National Brokerage firm. Pat has worked extensively in the natural resources space and looks forward to helping L.J. Stein & Company continue to expand its presence on a national level. Pat has developed a very loyal client following, some of whom he has worked with for over 20 years. Pat is passionate about his clients and is very active in various associations as well as serving in a Board capacity for one. In his personal time, Pat is married with four sons and enjoys coaching various youth sports.

• Kevin Sixbey

  Large Accounts Group

  

  Kevin Sixbey began his insurance career in May 2007 after completing his studies at Syracuse University. Starting with small operators and contractors, Kevin now works within our large accounts group. Kevin handles complex account marketing and performs detailed loss analysis. Passionate about community involvement, Kevin is the founding president of the Chautauqua Lake Rowing Association, a commissioner with the Jamestown City Parks, Recreation and Conservation Commission and serves as Council Vice President of the First Lutheran Church of Jamestown NY.

• Tammy Bakewell

  Oil & Gas Small Business Manager - Lead Agent/Broker

  Working with our small business clients, Tammy Bakewell utilizes the organizational skills she honed while managing a large international law office in Manhattan. Leading our small business team, she helps our clients select the best insurance products and carriers for their specific situations. • Kathy Rossey

  Transportation Risk Specialist

  

  Kathy Rossey began her insurance career in February 2002, specializing in risk management solutions for fuel oil distribution companies.  Through her experience she has developed a high level of knowledge and leadership in helping transportation companies navigate the insurance marketplace and manage filings, safety, and DOT compliance needs.  In her spare time, she enjoys camping in Cooks Forest, riding ATV's with her husband and children.
